Given its numerous properties, lavender essential oil has earned a reputation as the “aromatic panacea”. Although the meaning is not to be taken literally, lavender has a wide range of applications in the cosmetic industry. When blended with fractionated coconut oil and vitamin E, it creates a rich mixture of medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), fatty acids and antioxidants that readily penetrates the skin, repairs it and deeply nourishes it.

Ingredients and Formulation

Made from organic liquid coconut (Cocos nucifera) oil, vitamin E (Tocopherol), and lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) essential oil. Our organic virgin coconut oil undergoes the fractionation process, thereby the solid part is separated from the liquid one. This process gives our oil its very light, quick-absorbing, and non-greasy texture.

How to Use our Coconut Oil on your Face

As a make-up remover. Saturate a cotton pad with facial oil and gentle press against the skin for a few seconds. Then wipe the skin clean until all the makeup has come off.

As a cleanser. Evenly distribute the coconut oil on the face, neck and décolleté, then gently massage it with a circular motion for approximately 1 minute. Wipe the skin clean with a soft facial cloth that has been dampened with tepid water.

As a facial moisturizer/primer. Pour one single spray of liquid coconut facial oil in the palm of your hand. Evenly apply on your face, neck and décolleté on damp skin (immediately after cleansing the skin) using gentle outward and upward strokes.

As an eye treatment. Tap around the eye area to penetrate the oil starting below the tear duct and finishing just below the inner corner of the eyebrow.

For men. After shaving, apply a little oil on your beard with your fingertips using a combing motion.

Will your coconut oil clog my pores or cause me to break out in acne?

Our facial oil is less likely to cause breakouts due to the fact that our liquid coconut oil formulation is made from organic

Can I spray your facial oil into my face like a mist?

No. We recommend spraying into the palm of your hand, then gently applying to your face and neck.

What is fractionated coconut oil?

Fractioned coconut oil is an oil that has been subjected to fractionation. Fractionation causes the solid part of the coconut oil (long-chain fatty acids) to separate from the liquid part (medium-chain triglycerides, mono and polyunsaturated fatty acids).

Fractionation usually involves heating the oil above the melting point. At SEKAN, we instead use a process called hydrolysis —reaction with water— to break down the large coconut molecules into smaller ones. The result is an odorless oil that never solidifies and rates low in the comedogenic scale.

Will fractionated coconut oil cause me to have an allergic reaction?

In terms of allergenicity, any skin care product carries this risk. However, the risk is due to how an individual user reacts to the ingredient(s) in the product once applied to their skin, more than the ingredient(s) themself.

This can be minimized by doing skin testing – eg. applying a small amount of a product to a small, conspicuous patch of skin to see if it will cause a reaction or not.

What is the difference between a facial serum and a facial oil?

Facial serums are water-based formulas with high concentrations of active ingredients. Their small molecules are able to penetrate at deeper layers of the skin and target problem areas. A facial oil, on the other hand, is an anhydrous formula (does not contain any water) with the addition of other oil-soluble ingredients such as essential oils. Their main function is to soften, moisturize and protect the epidermis (the outermost layer of the skin).
